Intellectual Property
The firm’s Intellectual Property Department advises and assists clients in all areas of intellectual property, particularly trademarks, patents, copyright matters and IP asset transfers, with a heavy focus on trade mark filings and PCT national phase entries and maintenance.
The Firm is a member of a number of international industry bodies including the following:
- INTA – International Trademark Association
- ASIPI – Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property
- IPCA – Intellectual Property Caribbean Association
Rosalind Smith Millar QC, Partner, head of the firm’s IP Department, holds a Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property Law. She chaired the Barbados Government’s Advisory Committee on Intellectual Property for several years, and continues to serve on that committee. She is presently a member of the International Trademark Association’s Trademark Office Practices Committee (Latin America and Caribbean Sub-Committee) for the biennium 2016-17.
