Haylee Shaw is a Senior Associate in the Commercial Department, having joined the firm in 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from the University of West Indies Mona, which she obtained in 2015, and completed her Legal Education Certificate at the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica.

In 2017, Haylee was admitted to the Barbados Bar and commenced her legal career at the Barbados office of an established regional commercial law firm. While there, she specialized in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, representing local and regional clients in contract and mortgage matters and in negotiating commercial transactions. Haylee thereafter transitioned to an in-house legal role at a regulatory agency in Barbados, with a focus on competition law, consumer protection law, and energy law.

Haylee’s experience in commercial law and regulatory compliance has allowed her to deliver comprehensive solutions to complex legal challenges, ensuring legal compliance and favorable outcomes. Haylee has provided advice regarding the established merger regime in Barbados, ensuring that relevant merger transactions in the commercial sector are in compliance with fair competition laws. Haylee also has a keen interest in energy law and played a pivotal role in formulating comprehensive frameworks for the effective deployment of renewable energy in Barbados, such as the development of policy mechanisms and contractual arrangements allowing players in the sector to sell and purchase renewable energy-generated electricity.

Haylee actively contributes to her community through volunteering and supporting causes that align with her values, and previously served as a corporate secretary for a non-profit organization in Barbados, volunteering her legal and corporate secretarial services. She obtained training in Corporate Governance from the Chartered Governance Institute of UK and Ireland in 2020.

Haylee was elected to the Council of the Barbados Bar Association from 2020-2021 and was an active member of the BBA’s Public Relations Committee and Costs Committee. Since 2018, Haylee has also held various leadership positions on the board of the Rotaract Club of Barbados, an affiliated organization of Rotary International.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Haylee is passionate about the arts, and enjoys painting and photography.
